Martin Jacobson was born in Stockholm, Sweden on the 30 June 1987.
He is a Professional Swedish Poker player who won the World Series of Poker main event for $10 Million in 2014.
The Early Years
Jacobson always wanted to be a Chef and his dream was to move to Barcelona and work for a 3 Michelin Star restaurant and ultimately own his own restaurant one day.
He graduated from Culinary school and then did 12 months in the Royal Swedish navy which was mandatory in Sweden at the time.
His first introduction to Poker was when he was 18 years old and the world was going through the poker boom. He initially started playing freeroll tournaments online and poker games at home with friends.
Playing Poker
He enjoyed poker immensely and before long, he was playing small stakes cash games that soon led to single table tournaments.
At this stage his plan to move to Barcelona did not materialize when his job offer fell through. This is when he started playing poker more seriously.
WSOP and EPT Tournaments
In 2008 Jacobson won his first qualifier for the Word Series of Poker main event held in Las Vegas.
he had a choice to make though, because the prize was either $12 000 or the chance to play at the WSOP.
He chose to play at the WSOP and flew to Vegas. He was, however, eliminated in the third hand. A few weeks later he qualified for an event in the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Bucharest. He came third in this event and won €280 000.
He got his first live tournament win in October 2013 at the EPT in London.
In 2014 Martin made it to the final table of the WSOP main event, and landed up winning
$10 000 000.
Where is he now?
Martin is now living in London where he continues to play poker online, but he still has a passion for food and is planning on opening a healthy fast-food franchise.
